ZACTS OVC School
The school provides orphaned and vulnerable children in Solwezi and surrounding areas with a quality education, which promotes community pride and development.

The Problem
Just outside the city of Solwezi in Zambia’s North Western Province, subsistence farmers struggle to survive in small, isolated villages. Families plant whatever they can around their huts to feed themselves, but life remains uncertain and difficult. Children, many of whom are HIV/AIDS orphans being raised by relatives, are especially vulnerable. For years, they had little hope for even a basic education, with no schools nearby to attend.
The Program
The ZACTS School for Orphans and Vulnerable Children is bringing hope and opportunity to families in these communities. Since opening in 2012 with just three classrooms and 60 students, the school has grown into a thriving campus serving more than 1,700 children today. Beyond education, ZACTS provides practical solutions to hunger and sustainability by growing vegetables, raising livestock, and farming fish. These initiatives not only improve students’ nutrition but also generate income to keep programs strong.
