Stories of Transformation
Gertrude
Gertrude (Uganda)
As an orphan, Gertrude had no hope of education. IN Uganda’s child assistance program enabled her to go to school at age 10, where she received nutritious meals, medication, life skills training, and career guidance. After 14 years of loving support and mentorship from IN, Gertrude graduated with a bachelor’s degree of Education in Economics from Kyambogo University and is now employed as a teacher at a prestigious secondary school in Uganda.
Samuel
Samuel (Ghana)
Samuel’s family lived from hand to mouth for many years, and the constant struggle to survive meant they couldn’t afford to send him to school. Then he received assistance to attend IN’s Amrahia Community School, and today he’s training to be a doctor at the University of Ghana Medical school. He also gives back to the school by inspiring other young children with his story of hope.
Baby Doria
Baby Doria (Kenya)
Doria was abandoned at birth, dumped into the bottom of a latrine in Kawangware slum by her teenaged mother. When they heard Doria crying, our team broke through the stone, pulled her out, and rushed her to hospital, where she stayed for three months with an infection she got after ingesting feces. Today, she’s happy and healthy!
Hari
Hari (Nepal)
Hari is 26 years old and a mother of one child. Her husband suffers from hemophilia, which led to the amputation of his right leg. This has made it very difficult for him to find work. Understanding that she needed to take action, Hari enrolled in the sewing program at the Lydia Vocational Training Centre. Her goal is to start a tailoring business when she graduates that generates income to support her family and give her child a good education and future.
100% Goes to the Kids!
We have some generous donors who pay all our support costs. This means every dollar you give is used to transform lives.
“When we visited the Dhaka Drop-in Centre, I found it very hard to see children coming in from their work. I thought of our children who go to school and have lots of opportunities, but these children have so little.” Donna has written two children’s books about the plights of street children, with all of the proceeds going towards supporting centres that give children safe spaces to learn and play.

“When I met a little girl at the Savar Children’s Village, I was touched to know that she was one more child rescued from the many perils that children face in that part of the world. I’m thankful for the work of International Needs – changing the world one child at a time.”

“I saw firsthand how the work of International Needs positively impacts children and communities. When I visited Zambia’s Muzabula area, there were 60 children standing around in a small group with no school to go to. Becoming involved in empowering these children and their families has been exciting and fulfilling for me.”

“After going on a Umoja Journey to Guatemala, I was blown away after witnessing the passion and drive of those working on the ground and decided to fully commit myself and my real estate business to supporting this program. I am now committing 8% of every closing commission to the Survive and Thrive Program.”

“When I met the children with cerebral palsy in Kawangware, I was horrified to learn that these children were being left alone at home while the mums worked to feed them and their other children. I knew I couldn’t leave without doing something. In that moment, I decided to put money toward something that would help these women and children… and now we have the Joyful Hearts Centre.”

Nancy Bolton
Founder of Women Making a Difference (WMAD), Nancy began meeting with other women who shared a desire to know God’s calling on their lives. “In God’s miraculous ways, I learned of the work of International Needs, and over time we developed a strong partnership. Inspired by the story of the woman at the well in John 4, we decided to invest in water projects, one remote village at a time.”

“My Umoja Journey to Bangladesh was such a great experience and has given me a renewed vision for how my business can continue to invest in the communities there by serving our customers in our own community!”

Colleen Cole
Two years after the death of her husband, Colleen made the decision to join us on a Discovery Tour. “It was an amazing trip that opened my eyes to many things, but what really broke me was the conditions that the women and children endure in impoverished communities.” Colleen has been an advocate for women and children ever since, traveling the world to support health and education projects.
