How can I apply to go participate in a Discovery Tour?

International Needs Canada is committed to connecting men and women from the developed world with those of the developing world. Every year, International Needs Canada offers you the opportunity to explore and experience the progress being made on its various community development projects and other sustainable development initiatives in its partner countries. If you are interested in participating in a Discovery Tour please contact us. All interested individuals will be required to complete an application process which includes both police and reference checks.

Where can I travel?

International Needs Canada directly partners with and supports projects and communities in 10 countries around the world. If you would like to go on a Discovery Tour to one of our partnering countries, we encourage you to contact us. Remember that you are travelling outside Canada and you will need a valid passport—valid for at least six months after the date of your return.

You and a team may also design a Discovery Tour through one of our 35 global partners and country directors. Let us help you design a team experience for you today.

How are the expenses of each trip covered?

Each Discovery Tour participant is responsible for raising his or her own funding. This may be accomplished through donations and fundraising events. The money you raise will be directly credited to your account and your supporters will receive receipts for tax purposes.

Please note that a non-refundable deposit of $500 per person is required to secure a position on all International Needs Discovery Tours. This is due upon confirmation of your reservation. Your next payments are due as specified on your Discovery Tour application form. As flights and tour prices are quoted in CAD dollars, prices are guaranteed only with full payment. Taxes and Fuel Surcharges can be implemented by airlines until full payment is received.

What are the insurance requirements?

Extended medical insurance must be purchased at time of booking. Usually a package of cancellation and medical is less expensive than purchasing individual insurance. You must have extended medical coverage over and above provincial medical coverage. Cancellation insurance is optional. If you do not have travel insurance with your benefits provider, International Needs can provide you with the information you need to secure the proper coverage.

How much does each trip cost?

The cost for each trip varies depending on location and duration of stay. As you begin planning your trip, this information will be provided to you.

What is the policy on cancellation fees?

All monies are 100% non-refundable at all times as stated in the terms provided by the airlines. We highly recommend that you purchase cancellation insurance to cover yourself in case of your own illness or the illness of a family member.

What will I need in order to travel with International Needs?

To travel to the developing world, you'll need to have a valid passport and be up to date on required vaccinations. Please visit a travel clinic or your family doctor well in advance to ensure you are protected as you travel.

Where will I stay?

Accommodations vary depending on where and when teams travel. Most often participants stay in accommodations located within or near the communities they are visiting.
