Thank you to everyone that joined us for the Walk for Water! This 5K field walk and BBQ was organized by International Needs Canada and Women Making a Difference to raise $32,000 for a water project in Burkina Faso. With your support, we raised over $20,000!
Project Details
The Walk for Water’s aim was to raise funds to bring clean water to the village of Ouena, Burkina Faso.
Home to over 20,000 people, Ouena faces extreme poverty and a harsh climate with severe droughts lasting nine months of the year. During the short rainy season, families collect rainwater, but for the rest of the year, women and girls must walk long distances every day to fetch water from rivers or wells. These sources are often polluted, spreading diseases like cholera and dysentery, making it difficult for the community to stay healthy and thrive.
Your efforts will help to drill two boreholes in Ouena, providing a reliable source of clean water that will transform lives.
