The Walk for Water is a 5K neighbourhood walk and BBQ organized by Bonavista Church in partnership with International Needs Canada and Women Making a Difference to raise $43,000 for a water and sanitation project in Burkina Faso.

Project Details
The Walk for Water is raising funds to bring clean water and sanitation to the village of Mana, Burkina Faso.
Mana faces extreme poverty and a harsh climate, with droughts lasting up to nine months each year. During the short rainy season, families collect rainwater, but for the rest of the year women and girls must walk long distances each day to fetch water from rivers or shallow wells. These sources are often contaminated, spreading diseases such as cholera and dysentery and making it difficult for families to stay healthy. Sanitation is also a major challenge. With no proper toilets in the village, open defecation is common, which further contaminates water sources and threatens the health of the entire community.
By taking part in this year’s Walk for Water, you will help drill two boreholes and construct five latrines in Mana, providing reliable access to clean water and improved sanitation.
