The Women’s Empowerment Program
This program will provide women with advanced business training and loans to open or improve their businesses.
The Problem
In Nepal, it is very difficult for women to escape poverty and improve their situations. In general, women are still expected to be subservient, are given inferior education in comparison to men, and work for less pay or no pay at all, typically in domestic work like cleaning, cooking, and caring for children, the elderly, and the sick. Even for women who are skilled in a trade, like sewing or jewelry making, many lack the financial resources or business training to be able to open and run successful businesses.
The Program
The Women’s Empowerment Program is designed to support skilled women who are struggling to be profitable. Women will be trained in business development, and some will receive micro-loans to start or improve their small businesses. This program will also establish a social enterprise with products manufactured at the Lydia Vocational Training Centre. This will give the women hands-on experience in running a business and provide them with a platform to network and find sales opportunities within the market. The funds earned from the social enterprise will be reinvested into the program for sustainability.
How Your Gift Helps!
Your support will provide 50 women with business training and 10 women with micro-loans annually. Your support will also enable our partners in Nepal to set up and run the social enterprise, where they will sell products like clothing, bags, jewelry and accessories, and other handmade crafts.

will be used to improve the lives of women in Nepal, thanks to some generous donors who pay all our overhead.
