The real work starts now

While we want to celebrate how much has been done in a few short months, we need to remember that the Safe House in Kawangware slum is a shelter for abused children. During the pandemic, physical and sexual abuse skyrocketed – both by predators on the street and at home by family members.

Some of the children in RHYCO’s program (before COVID).

The leaders of RHYCO were made for this moment, having all grown up in Kawangware themselves. They jumped into action and started taking abused children home to protect them from their attackers. When the Safe House opens in February, these will be the first children to move in.

The RHYCO team serves a critical purpose for the most vulnerable among us – children – who need protection from people who do unspeakable things. Please pray that the love and compassion they feel from RHYCO will empower them as they recover from their difficult circumstances.
