Meet Our First Two Youth Ambassadors
David Marshall, CEO of International Needs Canada
RIDA MALIK
Youth Ambassador to Savar Children’s Village, Bangladesh
After following a news story about a mass shooting that claimed 51 lives in 2019, Rida became aware of how blessed she was, and realized that she hadn’t thought much about the hardships of others. With that realization came a new sense of responsibility. Rida says: “I decided to go into social work in university and become a youth ambassador at International Needs Canada because I want to learn more about the world, gain experience, and more than anything else, I want to help others.” In her spare time, Rida enjoys drawing. You can see some of her work on her Youth Ambassador Webpage.
JULIA SHANNON
Youth Ambassador to the Ghana Group Program for vulnerable children
Julia is studying Human Kinetics at the University of Guelph. She’s a competitive cross-country skier, Royal Conservatory pianist, and all-around outdoor enthusiast. Julia’s family sponsors a young girl in Ghana, and last year she wrote a research project on International Needs for her religion class. Julia shares: “I feel blessed to be a part of such a wonderful organization and truly look forward to seeing how God has called me to serve others in this role.
