Ghana Group Empowerment Program
This sponsorship program ensures that children in impoverished districts get to attend school, where they receive a quality education, mentoring, and special development in peer support groups.
The Problem
This group program takes place in two schools run by International Needs Ghana – Amrahia Community School (ACS) and Kpogede Community School (KCS) – in districts that suffer from high unemployment and extreme poverty.
Because many parents in these regions are unable to earn sufficient income, it’s common for children to be taken out of school to work in hazardous jobs, such as street hawking, farming, and fishing.
As a result, the children don’t get to attend school with their friends, and without education, they’re eventually pushed to the fringes of society, on a path with no good options.
The Program
The focus is on the long-term development of 375 vulnerable children at ACS and KCS, from kindergarten through to graduation in grade 9. Our hope is that parents will see the importance of keeping their children in school, rather than pushing them to earn income.
We walk alongside the children for 10 years: teaching, mentoring, and gradually developing them into self-confident, empowered individuals who are prepared to chart their own paths in life.
Priority is given to children who exhibit multiple risk factors, such as a history of abuse, instability at home, malnutrition, disability, and low school attendance.
How Your Gift Helps!
Education opens doors and teaches children how to find purpose and seek employment. Our group sponsorship programs are hosted within schools by administrators who know how to show children that there are ways to overcome poverty. With the group program, your gifts are pooled with all other donations so that we can accomplish more. By working together, we can take care of an entire group of children who might otherwise fall through the cracks.
Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it. (Prov 22:6)
100% Of Your Donation
will be used to improve the lives of children in Ghana, thanks to some generous donors who pay all our overhead.
About the Groups
Children are placed into peer groups where they grow together through their school years. In addition to a full school curriculum, INGH offers extra activities for group members, including sports, culture, community outreach, and specialized skill development. Each group is guided and coached by a loving mentor.
The group model invites all children in the community to attend so that no child is left behind!

This program contributes to four of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, which were adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030.
