Meet Our Volunteers - Tracy Mumford

Hi, my name is Tracy. I volunteer at International Needs’ office in Hamilton, and help sort out sponsorship letters.

My home church, Forrestview Community Church, sponsors 80 children in Uganda through International Needs’ sponsorship program. My family and I have the privilege of sponsoring 3 children.

I wanted to visit the community where our church is involved, so I went on a Discovery Tour to Uganda in April 2017, and again in April 2018. While I was there, I participated in a Teacher’s Workshop in Buikwe, where most of our sponsored children go to school. The teachers wanted to walk through the Bible in an effort to learn new ways to teach the Scriptures to their students. I really enjoyed the Teacher’s Workshop, and spending time with the children. I love the community feel of International Needs, and how the work is always carried out by local people.

Going on a Discovery Tour to Uganda impacted my faith and helped me grow as a Christian. When I came home, I spoke with Corrie Mulder at International Needs, and asked her how I could volunteer. I was asked to help sort out the sponsorship letters, which I enjoy doing. I’ve come to realize that we can be the hands and feet of Jesus whether we’re here in Canada or overseas, when we surrender our lives to His service. That’s the best way to live.
