International Needs Canada Overview

History

Since 1974, International Needs Canada has been changing the lives of vulnerable children through child sponsorship, and community development programs. Unique to the foundation of International Needs is founder and visionary Ray Harrison's focus on empowering communities by helping them to develop the leadership potential within their own cultures.

As we began partnerships with communities in the developing world, we found that there was a very real need for life essentials like food, clean water and education. By building trust with leaders and governments, International Needs found ways to build up communities by first empowering people through education, skills training and opportunities for health care, clean water and sustainable agriculture.

About Us

International Needs has been working to free children, families and communities from the cruelty of poverty and injustice. As a Christian development organization we want to help the weakest among us reach his or her full potential.

We build relationships with local leaders and work with them to improve the quality of life in their community. We respect the leadership of our indigenous partners who live and work in the communities we seek to serve, recognizing their unique understanding of the culture.

As these leaders work to implement change, we offer encouragement and resources to accomplish goals that are embraced by the community.

Our main focus is sustainability. Our programs and initiatives must fit naturally with the communities we serve and have a positive long-term impact on the health and well-being of the community.

Where We Serve

Today International Needs Canada is transforming lives and changing communities in over 9 countries around our world. The diversity of our programs and community partners provide an opportunity for Canadians to stimulate change in communities of need.
